Learning the Basics of Photography
- the YTRiP Way
At the end of each journey, Filipinos would usually
carry three highly valuable things: souvenirs, stories,
and tons of pictures. Any adventure would not be
complete if our stories do not have its visual counterparts.
Some of the time, though, our pictures are far from
perfect.
Last March 10 in Intramuros, YTRiP held a small
session on the basics of photography. Pro-travel
and lifestyle photographer, Karlo
de Leon willingly shared basic knowledge on
how to take good pictures. It was
practical information for people with a
point and shoot camera or a camera phone.
Apart from taking good pictures, we believe that
[travel] photos are more meaningful when
one knows the story of the subject - be
it a place or a person. Hence we
invited UST professor and heritage architect Manolo
Noche to give the background story of Intramuros.
He showed us pre- and post-war photographs and shared
details of what the walled city was like back then.
Tourism students, professionals, and entrepreneurs
were all mixed together for an afternoon of learning.
Now our photographs would not only be better, the
stories they reflect would be more meaningful and
close to perfect.
If you would like to have a similar session
in your school or for your office, email us at youthtrip@gmail.com.
